Spectator’s Packing List: Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show
To ensure you have the best experience at the Broyhill Equestrian Preserve, we recommend packing these essentials for your day at the show:

1. The Basics:
- Cash for the Gate: Admission is $10 per person (children 12 and under are free). Please note the gate is cash-only, so grab some bills before you head up the mountain from Lenoir!
- Comfortable Shoes: You’ll be walking on grass, gravel, and dirt. Leave the heels at the cabin; opt for stylish boots, loafers, or clean sneakers.
- Sun Protection: The mountain sun is deceptively strong. Pack sunblock, polarized sunglasses, and a wide-brimmed hat.
2. Ringside Comfort
- Layers: High-country weather changes fast. Even in June and July, a light jacket or sweater is a must for the cooler morning starts or sudden mountain showers.
- Portable Seating: While there are bleachers, many veterans bring stadium seats or lightweight folding chairs to claim a prime spot along the rail.
- Reusable Water Bottle: Stay hydrated! You can refill at the grounds to stay eco-friendly during your stay.
3. For the Equestrian Enthusiast
- Camera or Binoculars: Capture the "chrome and flash" of the Saddlebreds or get a closer look at the Hunter/Jumper form from across the ring
- Shouting Voice (for June!): Unlike the quiet of the July Jumping weeks, the Saddlebred Division in June encourages spectators to "whoop" and cheer for their favorite horses!
We’re counting down to the 103rd Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show. Whether you're here for the "flash" of the Saddlebreds in June or the precision of the Hunter/Jumpers in July, our Lenoir cabin is the perfect home base.
